Brief Analysis on Virtualization Buzz
In an earlier article I wrote, 3 Reasons Why Virtualization Is Changing the Technology Industry, the hype hasn’t died down, however, there are points to consider for the future of this technology.
Dennis Byron, a Senior Analyst for Research 2.0 relates some interesting thoughts in an article he wrote entitled, “Virtualization to “drop out of the vocabulary in three years”. His analysis of the buzzword “virtualization” is interesting in the sense he foresees a spell checker syndrome.
Eventually, it will be built into every type of server software; freestanding virtualization will go the route of the spell checker, from separate product to a check-box feature of a higher order product .
I could very well see this, however, not for some time as the buzz is destined to last for a lengthy amount of time. The strides that virtualization technology has taken, especially with the hardware integrated hypervisor releases such as VMware’s ESX Server 3i, shows the development of virtualization is on the cusp of bigger and better things than ever before.
The Virtualization Buzz is Good for You
The buzz surrounding virtualization is good. It is pushing the development and advancement of data center design.
Organizations and their CIOs are jumping on board. A recent poll of information technology professionals by an InformationWeek research survey, found almost 90 percent are implementing or planning to implement virtualization technology in the future.
Spell Checker Success
The biggest thing to take away is the knowledge virtual technology is maturing, and is being backed by many organizations who have vested interests in it. To reach full benefit of the buzz you need to continue to increase your understanding of this important technology.
